Meet the Doctors
Peter Bjorn Martinez, D.C.
Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Martinez, Austin's health and wellness coach, is a co-host on the MaxLife Austin radio show, hosts monthly health and wellness seminars, and provides corporate wellness workshops/programs for Austin area businesses. Dr. Martinez holds advanced certifications and training beyond his doctorate degree, in spinal correction, nutrition, fitness and toxicity. He is dedicated to seeing his patients achieve optimum health, find the cause of their problems and reach their maximum God given potential through the five essentials.
His desire to see people experience true health has provided a drive to stay updated on current clinical research in all aspects of preventative health care. He has traveled to volunteer on healthcare relief trips to his family run clinic in Mexico, and twice to Haiti.
Dr. Martinez was born in Dallas, Texas. He started his career in emergency medicine working as Paramedic and part-time in pediatric primary care on his days off. He then went on
to teach pre-hospital emergency medicine to paramedics and EMTs. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Bio-Psychology from Appalachian State University and his Doctorate in Chiropractic from one of the world’s top accredited chiropractic schools-Palmer College of Chiropractic.
From Dr. Martinez:
I came from a long line of medical doctors and because of that my family and I thought we understood health. Despite years of testing, medications, and physicals my family’s world was rocked with multiple life altering diagnoses. My family was forever changed when a Maxliving doctor reached out to us. He sat down and told us that our bodies were created to heal, we just need to find the cause of what was interfering with the innate healing process. He taught us the principles of health and healing, worked to find the cause, and from that point on, generations of our family have begun to live the 5 Essentials finally expressing true health for the very first time.
Cody Capeloto, D.C.
Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Cody Capeloto was born and raised in Gainesville, FL and currently resides in Austin, TX. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida, followed by his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from one of the world’s top accredited chiropractic schools – Palmer College of Chiropractic.
He has received advanced training in spinal correction, toxicity, fitness, and nutrition from some of the largest health clinics in the world. He has access to the latest scientifically-based research and protocols in health and is one of only a few hundred doctors certified in the five essentials of health. He has traveled to volunteer on healthcare-relief mission trips to the Dominican Republic and has increased his ability to reach other cultures by learning Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
From Dr. Cody: Growing up, I watched my dad take medication after medication for his diabetes. Despite taking hundreds of pills per year, these medications did not make him healthier, but instead led to more side effects, more medications, and chronic sickness. He lost his relationships, his marriage, and his hope for living.
The sad part about this story is that this is not only my dad’s; this happens to millions of Americans every year, and chances are, you know someone with a similar story. It is my passion to reignite that spark in those who have lost it, so that they may reach their God-given potential.
Our staff members work with our doctors every day to provide our patients with a professional and friendly experience.
Lauren was raisedin Chicago and graduated with a Biology Degree at DePaul University. Lauren started here at River City Wellness in September of 2019 but her health journey started in 2013 when she had the revelation that her body was a temple and created to be cared for as such. Since then she has been on a journey of health and wholeness which lead her here!
Lauren is our positivity machine. She keeps our office full of energy and has all the news on office events, the latest research and is our rehab exercise expert. She has a passion for helping people step into health and activating the body’s God given ability to heal and function at 100%. Ask her why common symptoms of pain or discomfort aren’t actually normal for the body, it’s her greatest testimony.
Krissy Davis, LMT
Krissy Davis grew up in Dallas, Texas but spent most of her adult life in Waco. In 2017, she had a dream and heard God say “move to Austin,” which she subsequently did in 2018. Her background includes a variety of professions, not just massage, including teaching, writing, marketing, missionary work and a stint as a professor. She holds two degrees from Baylor University, in Waco: a bachelor’s in sociology and master’s in journalism and public relations.
During a sabbatical in 2017, Krissy had a dream in the night about being a massage therapist. She knew that was the direction she needed to take vocationally, so she found a massage school, got in, and went to work. Since then, she’s pursued massage certifications in cupping, orthopedic assessment, zero balancing and has used her acquired skills to work with athletes in the CrossFit arena. She’s joining forces with the River City Wellness family after two years building her own mobile sports massage business.
From Krissy: Though my entry into the massage therapy world was unorthodox, it actually unlocked a passion I have for helping people move better muscularly in order to improve their lives and well-being. When I first started massage, I was actively involved in the CrossFit world. I practiced on my friends to gain more experience and found I loved the therapeutic side of massage, rather than the more popular relaxation side of the business. Massage school uncovered my inner science nerd when I discovered kinesiology, so I’ve loved applying the knowledge of how muscles move to work with clients to see their bodies move better. I think the intersection of chiropractic and massage care is the perfect balance for any person, from athletes to those powering through the 9-to-5 work grind. Both structural AND muscular care is paramount in helping a person’s body thrive.
